Abdominoplasty

This patient is a woman in her forties who had given birth to four children and had also undergone a hysterectomy. She was bothered by the extra tissue as well as the stretch marks on the abdomen and wanted cosmetic improvement.

She underwent abdominoplasty with the removal of the excess abdominal skin and fat. She also had 300 cc of fatty tissue removed by liposuction, and the abdominal muscles were tightened. At the same time she also had breast enlargement.

The postoperative pictures demonstrate the increased definition of the abdomen and belly button in addition to a significant decrease in the stretch marks. These photos are four months postoperative, so the scars are still red. They will fade over the next eight months.

Abdominoplasty

This patient is a woman in her late fifties who had given undergone previous abdominal surgery with the later development of an incisional hernia. She was also bothered by the shape of her abdomen and wanted improvement.

She underwent abdominoplasty with repair of the incisional hernia. The excess tissue removed from her abdomen weighed 0.93 kg (2.1 lbs). Additionally, liposuction was used to remove 650 cc from the abdomen and 150 cc from the pubis.

The postoperative pictures demonstrate a significant improvement in her abdomen. To see how much skin was removed from her abdomen, look at the top edge of the midline scar in the preoperative and postoperative anterior views. These photos are 3 months postoperative, so the scars are still red. They will fade over the next 9 months.

Modified Abdominoplasty

This patient is a woman in her forties who was bothered by redundant skin of the abdomen. She had tried vigorous exercise with a personal trainer for six months without improvement. She had just had a new pool installed and wanted to feel better in a bathing suit.

She underwent modified abdominoplasty with tightening of the abdominal muscles and removal of the excess skin. She also had a total of 500 cc of removed from the tummy, flanks and pubis by liposuction.

The postoperative pictures demonstrate that the contour of the anterior abdomen is much better. The scar is well hidden in the bikini area. These photos are 5 months postoperative, so the scar is still red. It will fade over the next 7 months.
